A huge congratulations to Cameron Evans, who has successfully completed his Groundworks Apprenticeship with Champion Groundworks.
Before joining us in 2024, Cameron had worked as a groundworks labourer through an agency and also spent some time block paving. Keen to build a long-term career in groundworks and gain a recognised qualification, he chose Champion because of our strong reputation across the region.
Throughout his apprenticeship, Cameron has gained experience across many aspects of groundworks, particularly enjoying plot drainage and finishing works. For him, seeing the finishing touches completed is like watching the final piece of the puzzle fall into place—and a chance to appreciate the hard work everyone has contributed along the way.
Cameron is now working on his fourth Champion project, having worked in Launceston, Padstow and Newquay before joining our team at Panderosa in Bodmin.
Although there have been challenging days—especially when the weather is against you—Cameron’s advice is to keep pushing through. It's worth it in the end! Talking about the most satisfying thing about his role he said:
"Getting to see the development of a project transform from an empty field into a live construction site is amazing. The hard work and attention to detail that groundworkers put in to lay the infastructiure for new homes and communities, that'll only be seen by a small number of people is really cool and I love being part of that."
