A SPECIAL NEW ARRIVAL

There's nothing quite like getting the keys to a brand-new machine, and for long-standing Champion Groundworks operator Stuart Hill, our latest arrival is certainly something to get excited about!

We've recently welcomed our third Doosan DX260-9 excavator to the Champion fleet, complete with an Engcon tiltrotator hitch and full GPS system. And taking the controls is Stuart, who celebrated an impressive 15 years with Champion in January this year.

Stuart's journey with us began after spending a number of years years working away from home, operating machinery for a company in North Wales. Eventually, he decided it was time to find work a little closer to home, and through his network of connections is Cornwall found out that there was an opportunity to join team Champion, and as they say, the rest is history!

Fast-forward 15 years, and Stuart is getting to grips with some of the latest technology in our fleet. Although the Engcon setup is new territory for him, he's already finding his feet and enjoying everything the new machine has to offer. Stuart reckons the new excavator makes his job so much easier, particularly with its smoother operation and comfortable, modern cab. It's safe to say he's pretty pleased with his new office!

But ask Stuart what has kept him at Champion for all these years, and it's not the machinery that gets the biggest mention. It's the people. For Stuart, Champion has always been a great team to be part of. Everyone is level-headed, there are no egos, and there's a genuine sense that everyone is on the same team. He particularly values the down-to-earth approach of our Managing Director, Jamie Roberts, who always makes the time to speak to everyone when visiting site, just as our founder Fred Champion always did.

It's something we're incredibly proud of. As our business and fleet continue to grow, it's the people and values that have been with us from the beginning that really make Champion what it is today.
